Meet Molly Martens

Molly Martens has been charged of killing her husband, 39-year-old Jason Corbett. She became his second wife and were married for four-years before Jason’s death, last August.

According to reports, Molly Martens worked as Jason Corbett’s babysitter. At the time he had lost his first wife and was a single father of two. The two tied the knot in 2011.

The Daily Mail reports, both Molly Martens and her father, 65-year-old Thomas Martens –who happens to be a former FBI agent –are involved in the killing of Jason Corbett.

A 911 call revealed Molly Martens father, got into an argument with Jason Corbett which ultimately resulted in his death. Corbett, 39, originally from Janseboro, Limerick, suffered fatal head injuries on August 2 at his house near Winston-Salem in North Carolina, the home he and Molly Martens shared.

Authorities arrived to the house in the early hours of August 2nd, to find Jason at the scene sustaining fatal head injuries. His body was flown to Ireland, where he was buried three weeks after his death.

At the time of the murder, no arrests were made, but investigators said, they weren’t looking for any other suspects from outside the home. Both Molly Martens and her father were named as persons of interest. They were charged with second-degree murder and voluntary manslaughter which in North Carolina law means 12-years to life in prison if guilty.

Following the death of Mr. Corbett, Molly Martens attempted to get custody of the two children but lost the case to Jason’s sister and brother-in-law in Ireland.

Molly is currently appealing the judge’s decision and is asking for support through social media.

Jason Corbett was first married to Margaret Fitzpatrick Corbett, with whom he fathered two children, daughter Sarah and son, Jack. The first Ms. Corbett dies of an asthma attack in 2006.
