1. Gwen Udell

Gwen Udell is often described as a close friend of Duke’s who often traveled with him.

In 1973, David joined the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan. And in 1975, he became the grand wizard and began reshaping the Klan, opening membership to women and exploiting the curiosity of the news media to publicize his segregationist agenda.

Duke also flew regularly to Las Vegas to gamble in the 1980s, say several people who accompanied him on trips, Gwen Udell being one of them.

She stated once that, Duke sometimes had $10,000 on the table at a time – during a period he was claiming an annual income of less than $12,000.

Udell is mentioned in the 1994 Tyler Bridges book, “The Rise of David Duke” –According to the book, they lived together after his marriage fell apart; from 1980 until 1987. She was first quoted in 1990 in the Times-Picayune and had to tell her co-workers and black friends she did not shared his feelings towards Jews and Blacks.

They met while Udell was undergraduate at the University of New Orleans. Of their relationship, she told the author: “I was naïve and I was stupid” also adding: “I was brainwashed”

Gwen Udell further revealed David wanted to have at least six children with her, but they had to be only boys.

Swimsuit and lingerie model Lori Eden went out with America’s most famous former Klansman in 1999 and 2000. She has not very fond memories of their relationship, in fact Lori was left with a bitter taste. She branded Duke during a 2003 interview as vain, selfish and opinionated but also reveals she fell in love with him, ultimately calling him a “bad habit.”

Eden, who was 33 at the time that she and Duke dated exclusively, said Duke’s racism seemed to depend on having an audience. Once, hanging around with his “entourage” — he very publicly yanked her out of a large hotel swimming pool when a black child got in the other end.

But another time, at a small ice cream shop with Eden for her son’s birthday, he got into a long and apparently friendly conversation with a black friend of hers. His followers weren’t there that time.

The couple broke up in 2000, but Eden says she’d started to drift away from him earlier due to her three sons began to be taunted at school because of her association with the infamous racist figure. Lori ran her own lingerie business.
