Michael Douglas claimed that oral ***, not smoking or drinking, had caused his type of throat cancer. The actor, who fought a six-month battle with the disease, admitted his illness was caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).
“Without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus,” the star explained.
Douglas, who is married to Catherine Zeta-Jones, was previously married to Diandra Douglas. She has come out saying that she is and was clean while married to him, telling TMZ she does NOT have HPV.
Michael Douglas married Diandra Douglas on March 20, 1977. He was 32 and she was 19 years old. The couple had one son, Cameron, born in 1978. In 1995, Diandra filed for divorce, that was one of the richest divorce settlements in history, estimated at $45 million and finalizing in June 2000.
Diandra Morrell Luker, later named Diandra Douglas, was born in 1956. She is the daughter of an Austrian diplomat. Diandra is twice-divorced and now single. Besides her son Cameron, she also is mother to twin 9-year-old boys, born to a surrogate, and an 8-year-old daughter adopted from Kazakhstan.
Diandra loved exotic pets, one time bringing a wild ocelot, an endangered species of cat, into the family home, according to former friend and longtime neighbor Patricia Sullivan-Webb. The cat was sent back to its preserve after biting Cameron.
Diandra Douglas appeared in the 2005 TV documentary “… A Father… A Son… Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”. She has also produced an episode of the TV series documentary “American Masters” in 1991. Diandra was Executive Producer in the 1997 documentary “Off the Menu: The Last Days of Chasen’s” and in the 2008 movie “Broken Lines”.
