Ime Udoka is the former professional basketball player boyfriend of actress, Nia Long. Here you have two big names and probably two big personalities. While Nia is known for her work in projects such as Big Momma’s House; Udoka is a former NBA fella turned coach.

Ime’s gal is most likely familiar to you for her role in the iconic TV series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Long was born Nitara Carlynn Long, her family is of Trinidadian, Grenadian, and Bajan descent. She was born in NY but moved to Iowa after her parents divorced. By the time she was seven she and her mother moved again to South Los Angeles.

Nia graduated Westchester High School in 1989, in addition to her academic work she studied ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics, guitar, and acting.

In 1991 she landed the role of Kat in the 1991 iconic film Boyz n the Hood –which opened the door to other opportunities.

Since then, she has appeared in several hit shows like Third Watch and other films like Boiler Room, Big Momma’s House, and Are We There Yet?

As for her personal life, Nia was in a long-time relationship with actor Massai Dorsey. The two are the parents of a son born in 2006, Massai Zhivago Dorsey II. At some point the couple parted ways and in 2010 she began dating Ime Udoka.

Ime Sunday Udoka was born August 9, 1977 in Portland, Oregon. His father was of Ibibio descent and was born in Nigeria.

He is a Jefferson High School graduate who played for the Nigerian National Team in multiple tournaments, including the 2005 African Championship, the 2006 FIBA World Championship, and the 2011 African Championship where he helped lead Nigeria to a bronze medal.

Ime began his college career at Eastern Utah and spent a year at the University of San Francisco before finishing at Portland State.

Udoka went undrafted out of college and spent time in the NBA Development League, USBL, IBA and internationally in Spain and France.

During his seven-years NBA career he played for the L.A. Lakers, the New York Knicks, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Sacramento Kings.

In 2012, he joined the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach.

In 2011, Ime became a first time dad, after Nia Long gave birth to the couple’s son, Kez Sunday Udoka. The two have been going strong since 2010 and are said to have gotten engaged in 2015.
