Traci Lynn Hickman
Traci Lynn Hickman is the proud wife of economist, Arthur Laffer -who will be receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Traci’s husband will be awarded the nation’s highest civilian honor by the hands of President Trump. The award comes following Laffer’s long-life contributions to economic policy; he is described as one of the most influential economists in American history.
Dr. Laffer received a B.A. in economics from Yale University in 1963. He received an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1965 and 1972 respectively.
Dr. Laffer has been widely acknowledged for his economic achievements. During 1972 to 1977, Dr. Laffer was a consultant to Secretary of the Treasury William Simon, Secretary of Defense Don Rumsfeld and Secretary of the Treasury George Shultz. He was the first to hold the title of Chief Economist at the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under Mr. Shultz from October 1970 to July 1972.
He was formerly the Distinguished University Professor at Pepperdine University and a member of the Pepperdine Board of Directors. He was a member of President Reagan’s Economic Policy Advisory Board for both of his two terms (1981-1989); and is also a founding member of the Congressional Policy Advisory Board.
Years of experience and success in advising on a governmental level have distinguished Dr. Laffer in the business community as well; as the founder and chairman of Laffer Associates.
He and Traci Lynn Hickman have been hitched since 1982. Traci Lynn is actually his second wife. Laffer divorced his first wife due to his four-day-a-week travel schedule back in the 70’s. From his first marriage he fathered four children.
According to the LA Times, he and Traci Lynn Hickman met when she was a college student and working as a secretary to Dean Steele. The two bonded for their love of birds and Laffer proposed to her in Paris. The pair were married in 1982 in an elaborate Beverly Hills wedding attended by 800 friends.
Traci Lynn Hickman is originally from Ontario, California; she was born July 13th 1959; to parents Betty Jane Hickman and Leo Marion Hickman. Her father was an inventor with David Industries Inc., a manufacturer of oil-well heaters in Irvine, Calif.
Traci was a political science major at the University of Southern California. Since their nuptials, Traci and Arthur Laffer have welcomed two children of their own, obtaining a grand total of six kids between the two.
