Meet Melania Trump

Melania Trump is a former model turned designer and could also become the country’s next First Lady. Melania happens to be married to billionaire, developer and current presidential candidate, the infamous Donald Trump.

In the past, we knew Melania as the Slovenian, hot wife of Donald Trump. Now as Americans have split ideas of her Republican presidential candidate husband, all eyes are on her.

Melania Trump was introduced during a campaign rally on Feb. 8 in Manchester. She has been slowly coming out of the shadow of Donald Trump, with him being one of the loudest candidates ever.

Melania –who most definitely wins the most stylish wife title –recently voiced her opinion about her husband, saying his critics don’t give enough credits and defending Trump by saying he only wants to keep America safe.

It appears, Melania will make for a great first lady?

Melanija Knavs was born in 1970 in Sevnica, a Slovenian town that, at the time, was part of Yugoslavia. The second and youngest daughter of Victor, a car dealer, and Amalija, a fashion designer, Knavs reportedly spent her winters skiing and summers at the beach. She speaks four languages, studied design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia, and at 19 began a full-time career as a model.

After building a portfolio of magazine covers and high fashion ads in Milan and Paris, Melania finally arrived to the U.S. in 1996. Melania –who later changed her named to Knauss  because it was easier to pronounce –met Trump in 1999. They both attended a party for Fashion Week.

Melania previously faced the fact that one day she could become the Frist Lady. Back in 1999, when they were dating, Trump talked about exploring a bid for the Whit House. Trump’s 2000 presidential campaign ended before the two were even married.

Fast forward to 2005, the couple tied the knot. She became a mom to their only son, Barron William Trump in 2006. Donald Trump was previously married twice. His was first married to Ivana Trump, from 1977 until their divorce in 1991. Trump and Ivana have three adult children, sons Donald Jr. and Eric; and daughter Ivanka.

He then married actress, Marla Maples in 1993 and with whom he cheated his first wife. The couple produced one daughter, Tiffany Trump. They divorced in 1999.

Though many might think, she looks like one of those, trophy wives. Melania keeps busy being a mom and also running her own jewelry and cosmetic lines. In April 2010, Melania Trump launched her own jewelry collection, “Melania™ Timepieces & Jewelry”, on QVC.

In 2013, Melania Trump developed her own Skin Care Collection, “Melania™ Caviar Complexe C6”.

Melania’s philanthropic interests –which are a must for any political spouse –are well documented on her own website. She was Honorary Chairwoman for Martha Graham Dance Company in April 2005, is an active member of the Police Athletic League which honored her with Woman of The Year 2006, has been an Honorary Chairwoman for The Boy’s Club of New York for five consecutive years, and in 2005 The American Red Cross awarded her with Goodwill Ambassador which she has proudly served for four years.

In April of 2008, she was asked by Love Our Children USA and NASDAQ to participate in the Fifth Annual National Love Our Children Day and the beginning of National Child Abuse Prevention month by ringing the closing bell at NASDAQ.
