Vili Fualaau is the husband and former victim of former teacher turned wife, Mary Kay Letourneau. The two have been married for over a decade and have kids together.



Villi Fualaau and his wife Mary Kay Letourneau first gained attention after she pleaded guilty to two counts of felony second-degree rape of a child; with the victim being Fualaau –who was then, her 12-year-old student.

Long and bizarre story short, the two ended up getting married after Mary Kay’s time behind bars. The odd couple have since, lived a relatively quiet life but last May reports surfaced of Vili filing for divorce, most recently, he was arrested for a DUI. Get to know him best below.

#1 He was 12 when he became involved with his teacher

Vili Fualaau was born in 1983 and is of Samoan origin. He met Mary Kay Letourneau after she became his sixth grade teacher in 1996. She became close to him and the two became sexually involved shortly after his 13th birthday.

#2 Vili’s wife used to be married

When Mary Kay Schmitz was born January 30, 1962. The California native was first married to former ex-husband, Steve Letourneau. The two met while at Arizona State and she became pregnant soon-after. The two were married and welcomed four kids but the marriage was plagued with numerous issues like cheating and financial problems. She ended up divorcing Steve while in jail in 1999.

#3 Vili Fualaau is the father of two kids

Their first child a daughter, was born in May 1997 while Letourneau awaited the conclusion of her trial. She was sentenced to six months and only served half of the time. Part of the plea included she agreed to avoid contact with Fualaau however, she violated the terms of her probation by engaging in sexual intercourse once again with Fualaau just weeks after her release. This time she was sentenced to seven-years in prison and gave birth to the couple’s second daughter while incarcerated in 1998.

#4 He requested a reversal of the no-contact order to marry her

Mary Kay Letourneau was released from prison in 2004, at the time a 21-year-old Vili Fualaau was granted a reversal of the no-contact order against Letourneau and the two were married on May 20, 2005. The family settled in Washington and their daughters are now in college.

#5 Vili Fualaau is a DJ

According to People, Vili has worked at a home improvement store and as a DJ; while Mary Kay as a legal assistant.

#6 He filed for divorce and later withdrew it

In May of 2017, Fualaau filed for divorce from Mary Kay –after 12-years of marriage. Shortly after the two began appearing in public together and the divorce was dismissed.

#7 He got a DUI

Most recently in the Fualaau-Letourneau drama, the couple is said to be together however, Vili was arrested in February after he slammed into two vehicles TMZ reports.
