Howard Deutch – Actress/ DWTS Contestant Lea Thompson’s Husband

63-year-old filmmaker Howard Deuth’s wife, actress Lea Thompson is among the lineup to appear on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

ABC on Thursday announced the 13 contestants for its fall round of the dancing competition, which includes Howard’s wife and 12 other stars/contestants.

The film and TV director’s wife of 25 years will be paired up with Artem Chigvintsev. Howard and Lea might be one of Hollywood’s best known couples, the partnership between a director and an actress, seems like a match made in heaven.

Howie Deutch is perhaps best known for his collaboration with filmmaker John Hughes, having directed two of Hughes’ best known screenplays, Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful. His most recent theatrical release was My Best Friend’s Girl, starring Jason Biggs.

Born in NY September 14, 1950; he was raised in a Jewish family, parents Pamela (née Wolkowitz) and Murray Deutch, a music executive and publisher. His father got him a job in advertising at United Artists Records before he found his true passion.

His first work as director was actually in music, Deutch directed music videos for performers such as Billy Idol (“Flesh for Fantasy”) and Billy Joel (“Keeping the Faith”)

He met his wife 27-years-ago on the set of “Some Kind of Wonderful.” They tied the knot two years later in 1989.

While her hubby stayed behind the camera doing what he does best, Lea did her thing on the screen. She has been acting since the early 80’s and one of our favorite roles of his wife is as Lorraine Baines in the Back to the Future trilogy. The couple would also later worked together when he directed his wife in four episodes of Caroline in the City,

Howard and the “Switched at Birth” actress are the proud parents of two children, daughters Madeline and Zoe Deutch, both are actresses. Howie directed his daughter Zoe in one episode of Ringer.

His work includes over 20 films and TV series. He earned a CableACE Award for his direction of an episode of the HBO series Tales From the Crypt entitled Dead Right.

Howie’s wife, who was told by ballet legend and then ABT artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov that she was “a beautiful dancer”  will sure be one of the most talked about couples along with partner Artem, are you excited to watch her?
