Tamra Roberts Lhota

Tamra Roberts Lhota is the longtime wife of former politician turned M.T.A Chairman, Joe Lhota.

Tamra’s husband has resigned as chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The 64 years old, had been appointed chairman of the authority last year. He simultaneously served as chief of staff at NYU Langone Health.

Born October 7, 1954; the New York native graduated from Georgetown University in 1976 and received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1980. After graduating, he embarked in a 15-year career in investment banking.

Before joining the MTA in 2012, Lhota served as executive vice president, administration, for the Madison Square Garden Company. He was also New York City deputy mayor for operations under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, additionally, he served as the commissioner of finance for New York City.

He has been happily married to wife, Tamra for many years. Together they are the proud parents of an adult daughter, Kathryn.

The two met on a Paine Webber conference call and began dating in 1989.

Tamra Roberts Lhota is a skilled fund-raiser, who actually got involved with Giuliani’s 1989 mayoral campaign before her husband did.

Tamra Roberts Lhota got her start in gathering donations while volunteering on Rudy Giuliani’s first mayoral campaign, and she mapped out a very successful fund-raising plan for his second run. When he won, she was appointed to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, which promotes public-private partnerships. She was in City Hall on 9/11, and days later she was asked to lead the Twin Towers Fund.

She worked as a fundraiser on her husband’s mayoral campaign and accompanied him throughout the city as he made his case to voters. Is safe to say she is a supportive wife. Tamra is also known to have earned a divinity degree and considered becoming an Episcopal priest.

Back in 2014, the wife and mom of one, suffered a spinal cord accident and had to learn how to walk again.
