William Weitz Shaffer
This is William Weitz Shaffer; the father of actress India Riven Oxenberg stayed out of the public light since the 90’s, but when his daughter became involved with Keith Raniere’s cult Nxivm, he decided it was time to speak up and stand out for his girl.
“I’ve had a close and personal relationship with my daughter India her entire life,” Shaffer told me. “I know in my heart she will do the right thing. She’s an angel.” Mr. Shaffersaid in 2017, from his home in Santa Monica.
William Shaffer was the leading man running what Washington police described as the biggest marijuana smuggling operation on the west coast back in the late 80’s. He and his younger brother Christopher were responsible for shipping 65 tons of marijuana (worth approx. $300 million) from Thailand to Washington State.
William was hiding in Germany when not only he was arrested but also met Dynasty actress Catherine Oxenberg, together they had one daughter; India born on June 7, 1991. In addition to India, William is the father of his eldest daughter Carey, 44, from a previous relationship to Bobbie. (pictured below with her husband Paul).
According to records online, Catherine took India to see her dad in prison several times; he pleaded guilty to one 1987 importation count, one drug count, and another money-laundering charge. He spent several years behind bars.
Nowadays, William Weitz Shaffer lives a quiet life in California.
