Chyreese Jones has been named as the woman who used to be in a relationship with shooter, Gary Martin.

Chyreese’s former flame went on a shooting rampage last week after he was informed of his termination at the Henry Pratt Co. warehouse; in Aurora, Illinois. The 45-year-old opened fire at his co-workers killing five and injuring others. He ended up being shot and killed during the attack.

Reports say, Martin turned out to be a convicted felon who had a number of arrests. Jones would know all about his troubled past after she was the girlfriend who was regularly abused by him.

According to court records, Jones described Martin as a controlling man who “fakes” his remorse to seek attention. At one point, she told police, Martin held her and her 3-year-old daughter hostage inside their apartment, and threatened to kill her with a box cutter, court records say.

Around March 1994, Jones then asked Martin, then 20, to pack his belongings because she wanted to end the relationship –what prompted Martin to begin beating her –at one point, hitting her with a baseball bat and stabbing her with a knife.

Chyreese told police at the time, “All I can remember is him hitting and kicking me, I can remember fighting and screaming for help. I remember him pushing my head into that brick wall outside the apartment and thinking that he was going to kill me”

The incident put Martin in jail, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was convicted of aggravated assault in Mississippi. The domestic violence incident that turned him into a felon –should have kept him from buying a gun. After serving less than three years, he ended up moving to Aurora, Illinois, where he spent 15 years working at the warehouse.

52-year-old Chyreese Jones told reporters about Martin “he doesn’t take loss or rejection at all” She attributed his anger to problems that dated to his childhood.
