Barry Bialik: Big Bang Theory Actress Mayim Bialik’s Father

39-year-old actress Mayim Bialik paid tribute to her father Barry Bialik on a blog post Tuesday. Mayim posted to her Instagram account the photo above captioned “I have been absent from social media because my dad died”

The Big Bang star wrote on a Kveller post “For those of you who have lost someone else you were close to, you also tell me you know how I feel,”

According to Mayim, her father had been living in a hospice for the last couple of months, which gave her the chance to prepare for the loss.

Barry was married to Mayim’s mother,  Beverly (née Winkleman), he was a grandfather to her two children. According to online records, Barry Eugene Bialik worked at Van Nuys Middle School, he was 72-years-old.

The only child of her parents, she shared her struggle following her father’s loss, saying: nothing could quite prepare Mayim for the pain and grief she would feel following her father’s death. ‘For now, I am praying a lot. And remembering a lot. And crying. And also laughing.

She reveals she is deep in the Jewish mourning process and hopes to share more soon.
