Tate Taylor is the rumored boyfriend of Academy Award winner actress and author, Octavia Spencer.

Most recently she can be seen on Hidden Figures, where she plays Dorothy Vaughan –the leader of a team of female African-American “human computers” contributing to the success of NASA during the early 1960s.

For her role in the film she has been nominated for an Academy Award for actress in a supporting role.

This is the second Academy Award nomination for Octavia Spencer. She was previously nominated for, The Help.

Octavia is known to keep her personal life private but in 2013, she spoke about her decision not to have children saying she was completely fine with her decision.

She also said she dates a lot less now that she is a big Hollywood name.

‘The visibility is scary, so I get it. At this point, I’m not looking. He has to find his way to me. I’m totally fine with not being married or a mom right now. There was a time when that kind of stuff depressed me, but the universe had other things in store.’

At 46, the actress is still single and has yet to walk the isle. However, director Tate Taylor could be the one keeping her company at night.

The two are in the same industry, he makes movies and she stars in them. They are both single and have been pictured a number of times.

Tate Taylor is a hunky film maker known to tell stories of women who aren’t afraid to be good and bad and a million shades of grey in between.

The 47-year-old director projects include The Help –in which he and Spencer worked, The Girl on the Train and he is also the man behind 2014’s James Brown biopic, Get on Up.

The Help received four Academy Awards nominations, including Best Picture and acting nominations for Viola Davis, Jessica Chastain and Octavia Spencer. The film won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

In 2012 he received the Writers Guild of America West’s Paul Selvin Award for his adapted screenplay. The Selvin Award recognizes written work which embodies the spirit of constitutional rights and civil liberties.

Taylor was born June 3, 1969. Taylor was “co-raised” by a caregiver and his single, working mother. He attended Presbyterian Church preschool in Jackson, Mississippi. He began his career as an actor working between Los Angeles and New York.

He debuted as a director with “Pretty Ugly People” in 2008. It was with The Help that he later made a splash.

The idea of Mississippi native Tate, and Octavia dating couldn’t get much far, that’s because Tate is a gay man.
