Starla Baskett is the proud mother of TV and film, actor Zac Efron –who is currently recovering from surgery.

Starla’s 31-year-old son tore his ACL while skiing and had to get under the knife to repair it. Thankfully he is currently in recovery and looking great as always. The actor who rose to prominence in the late 2000s for his leading role as Troy Bolton in the High School Musical franchise will appear next as serial killer Ted Bundy in the film, ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.’

Starla and her husband, David Efron welcomed Zachary David Alexander Efron on October 18, 1987. They are also the parents to another son, Zac’s younger brother, Dylan Efron –a filmmaker.

She met her husband while working together on the same company. At the time, David Efron worked as an electrical engineer at the same nuclear power facility where Starla Baskett, worked as a secretary. The family lived in Arroyo Grande, CA, just south of San Luis Obispo.

Starla Baskett or also known as Starla June Efron, was born January 14, 1949 –she is mostly known for Zac’s mother. It’s been reported it was thanks to her early encouragement and support that Zac was able to pursue theater arts at a young age.

Zac began acting in Community Theater when he was 11 and following the success of High School Musical, went onto play roles in the movies Hairspray, 17 Again, Baywatch, Neighbors and The Greatest Showman. He also voiced the lead character Ted in the 2012 animated film The Lorax.

On the other hand, Starla’s youngest son, Dylan graduated from Cal Poly in 2013 with a degree in economics, earning an outstanding award for his work on his senior project. Her sons are super close and constantly appear on each other’s social media.

As for Starla’s private life, we do know she and David Efron unfortunately separated in 2015. According to Radar Online she filed for divorce citing ‘irreconcilable differences.’
