Have you heard about the girl that was kicked out of her prom because her “provocative” appearance made some of the parents have “impure thoughts?” Yikes!
Her name is Clare Ettinger, she is a 17-year-old from Richmond, VA. Her outrage made her write a piece on her sister’s blog speaking about the incident that also made her friends want to leave with her!
Clare comes from a big family, she has an older sister Hanna, older brother Joel and also a younger sis, Heidi. She and her siblings are all, tall, blonde, slim frame figured, kind of like those slender looking models from the south.
The whole situation made me feel violated, walked over and ostracized. My group of five people had to leave the prom because I stuck out, I have long legs and I was wearing a sparkly dress, I didn’t look like most of the 13-15 year old girls there, I looked like a woman. And ******* it, I am so tired of people who abuse their power to make women feel violated and ashamed because she has an ***, or has breasts, or has long legs.
The grown look-alike teen is speaking out not just because she has strong feeling about her prom being ruined but also because she wants her friends to get their money back, since they followed after but only Clare was refunded.
Clare was doing dual enrollment at the local community college to finish up her last year of high school via homeschooling and attended her prom like the rest of the students without ever thinking she would be the victim of what she labeled “rape culture activists”
She and her sis claim that she was wearing code-appropriate clothing to her homeschool prom, but got ****-shamed and kicked out because some middle-aged homeschool dads couldn’t stop ogling her from a balcony.
Who wants to miss out on their prom –these exiting rite of passage –that was snatched from Clare. According to her story, she searched over 6 stores for the perfect dress but her effort was in vain. As it turns out, these dads couldn’t be bothered to exercise self-control to keep their eyes and minds off of Clare’s 17-year-old homeschool body. They told one of the prom assistants that Clare’s “dancing was too provocative,” even though Clare hadn’t been dancing, and that she “was going to cause the young men at the prom to think impure thoughts.” The prom assistant then tried to make a different excuse, saying Clare’s outfit wasn’t up to dress code — even though Clare immediately proved it was. After being challenged, the prom assistant called security and refused to let Clare speak to a higher-up.
What do you think of Clare’s story?
Clare will start college on the east coast this coming fall since big sis is living in L.A.
