Meredith Lynn Auld is the Former Miss South Dakota 1959 and wife of NBC News special correspondent and former anchor of NBC Nightly News, Tom Brokaw.

Meredith who is also an author and her family have a lot to be thankful for these holydays. Her husband of 52-years had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in August 2013 but we are glad to hear his treatment has been successful. Over the weekend the 74-year-old released a statement announcing that his cancer was in remission.
Ms. Brokaw and Tom have three adult children together, their three daughters are Jennifer Jean Brokaw, Andrea Brooks Simon and Sarah Auld Brokaw. Their daughter Sarah is a psychotherapist, certified coach, philanthropist and best selling author. The couple also has several grandchildren.
The South Dakota native, attended Cottey College in Nevada in 1958-1959. She is a highly accomplished woman, for 16 years as vice-chair of Conservation International, a field-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect the earth’s living heritage and its global biodiversity.
Brokaw is an emeritus board member of WNET and was chair of their Education Committee for over ten years. She was also a director of the Gannett Company for 18 years.
Founder and operator until 1999 of Penny Whistle Toys in New York City, she also wrote eight Penny Whistle books for children. In 2006 she co-authored a cookbook titled Big Sky Cooking.
Most recently, last year she established the tomato canning project initiative, a micro finance business, which is partnered with the Kwithu Women’s Group; which her husband reported about.
Success is something has always been in Meredith’s vocabulary, but if you think her romance with Tom was at first a fairytale, think again, it wasn’t until she wrote him a strongly worded letter that he decided to turn around! Read more here.
