Alan Hamel – Suzanne Somers’ Husband

Alan Hamel is a Canadian Television host who is best known for being married to Suzanne Somers. He was born in Toronto, Ontario on June on 30, 1936. He is presently 77 years old.

He was a co-host of children’s show Razzle Dazzle, in Canada from 1961to 1964. In the late sixties, he went on to host two syndicated shows for ABC, Wedding Party and Anniversary Game.

He and Suzanne met in 1968, when she won the job as a model on his Anniversary Game, the show he was hosting. He was married at the time to Marilyn Hamel with whom he has two children. Suzanne became pregnant, and they decided that she should have an abortion, which caused her several days of bleeding. There was a huge scandal back then. But they were in love, and finally in 1977, on November 11, they got married and have stayed married.

He has been a huge influence in Suzanne’s life. It is speculated that she lost her job on Three’s Company due to bad advice given to her by her husband. But he’s been very smart too, and guided Suzanne through the building of her health and fitness empire.

Most recently Suzanne has been recommending hormone therapy, which she and Alan have been doing. She claims that thanks to this she and Alan enjoy sex two times a day.  To paraphrase what the old lady said to the waitress in When Harry met Sally, I will have what they’re having!!!
