We are saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Russian Tennis player Violetta Degtiareva. The young athlete died last week and the news broke after a fellow tennis player posted it on Facebook.
Violetta who was only 23-years-old is described as having great potential, she was already ranked 1,084 in the world with her highest ranking at 947.
She was born in the city of Rostov in south-western Russia. Besides her talent, good looks accompanied the blonde player and it was often said she was the next Anna Kournikova.
Reports say Violetta collapsed during training and literally dropped dead, it is not yet clear if she died at the spot or if she died while being rushed to the hospital.
According to her Facebook page she graduated in 2008 from Rostovnadonu, Rostovskaya Oblast’, Russia. Violetta was a close friend of 20-year-old tennis player Anastasia Vdovenco, who wrote on Facebook: ‘I can hardly believe it. Rest in peace.’
