Jourdan Rodrigue
Jourdan Rodrigue is a female reporter currently employed by The Charlotte Observer. The lady has found herself thrown in the spotlight after NFL QB, Cam Newton made a sexist comment to her during a press conference on Wednesday, October 4th.
Jourdan Rodrique asked a question about the type of route a wide receiver on the team ran. Newton responded by stating he found a female reporter asking about routes ‘funny’.
Rodrigue wrote on Twitter –where she has over 25K followers –in response to Newton
“I don’t think it’s ‘funny’ to be a female and talk about routes. I think it’s my job”
Jourdan Rodrigue joined the Charlotte Observer last October, she previously was a Penn State football Beat Reporter and also co-produced a sports documentary about the 2015 Dobson Girls Basketball team and their Division I state championship.
She has penned numerous sports articles that go from a coach’s comment on a rookie, roster cuts, info on a player’s knee brace, and so on. Is safe to say Jourdan’s passion are sports and she is very serious about it. She loves working on the trenchers which means being in charge of asking the questions, report answers, compile stats and repeatedly finding unique angles to cover regarding Panthers Football.
Many took to twitter to defend Jourdan and even the Panthers and the NFL released statements condemning Newton for his comments.
According to the Panthers’ statement Newton expressed regret after Jourdan sought to talk to him minutes after the conference. However, Rodrigue assures he did not apologize.
According to her LinkedIn, Jourdan Rodrigue is a Carolina Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer. She attended Arizona State University from 2010 until 2014 earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
She worked for nearly a year as a Web Content Editor/Writer for both ArizonaSports.com and KTAR.com; and was also a Real Time Correspondent at Chase Field, an MLB ballpark.
