Kim Morgan
Screenwriter Kim Morgan was the blonde stunner who Mexican director Guillermo del Toro took to the Oscars, where he picked up the Best Director award for his film Shape of Water, which also won the award for the best picture. His wife of 31 years Lorenza Newton was nowhere and he didn’t mention her in his acceptance speech, but he did thank Kim.
“I want to thank the people who have come with me all the way – Kimmy, Robert, Gary, Wayne and George, and my kids.”
‘”And I want to say, like Jimmy Cagney said once: “My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my brothers and sisters thank you, and I thank you.”
When asked about his relationship with Kim, Guiller mo said they were just friends.
“She is working with me, we have a nice friendship. In case some news appears, let’s clarify that I separated in February. I started working with her at the end of the summer.”
Seattle native Kim Morgan like Guillermo was once married to Canadian film director Guy Maddin; they tied the knot on December 11, 2010. According to some sources they split up, and eventually divorced ion 2014.
Kim who is currently working with del Toro on his upcoming film Nightmare Alley, based on William Lindsay Gresham’s 1946 novel; Kim also worked on the 2015 short film, The Forbidden Room, the following year, worked with her ex-husband on his mystery film titled Seances.
In addition to films Kim has written for Playboy, The Daily Beast, Criterion, Filmmaker Magazine, Garage, GQ, The Dissolve MSN Movies, LA Weekly, Salon, Sight & Sound, IFC, among others.
