The Cheltenham Festival: Where the A-listers come out in force

Cheltenham-Festival-2015There are many illustrious horse racing events that take place annually in UK that bring out a whole host of celebrity A-listers. However, few are as well attended as the famous Cheltenham Festival.

Held every year at the start of March, the races attract the best in British- and also Irish-trained horses. To heighten proceedings, the event usually coincides with St. Patrick’s Day, which means the event is heavily supported by an Irish contingent.

It also has prize money only second to the Grand National, which in turn attracts the very best horses, jockeys and stables that the horse racing world has to offer. All the information on the latest tips can be found at Betfair where acclaimed trainer Paul Nicholls regularly imparts his knowledge on the website.

But aside from the horse racing royalty, the Festival also attracts some of the world’s most revered celebrities. The Express reported in 2014, that royal Zara Phillips was in attendance accompanied by Sky Sports commentator Kirsty Gallagher. Additionally, comedian Jimmy Carr, musician Lily Allen, television personality Jeremy Clarkson with his wife Frances Cain and chat show host Jeremy Kyle was also at the Festival. Even long time Blur bassist Alex James managed to get away from touring and recording duties to attend the annual event.

Self-confessed horse lover and businesswoman Katie Price also regularly attends the event, and was photographed at last year’s event with yet another new boyfriend on her arm. The model has had a string of failed relationships but this doesn’t seem to stop her from attending the Gold Cup race, every year.

Much of the same is expected at the 2015 Cheltenham Festival, as the event slowly becomes one of the go-to horse racing events in the sport’s yearly calendar. The Gold Cup, which is the event’s main race, is watched by millions globally according to Bleacher Report who recently published an article on some of the biggest events in the sporting calendar.
