Michael and Lisa Evancho are the proud parents of teenage singer prodigy , Jacqueline Marie Evancho, best knonw as Jackie Evancho.
You may have or may have not heard about their 16-year-old daughter before. Michale and Lisa’s daughter began making headlined a few years ago when in 2010 she gained wide recognition with her 2nd-place finish in the fifth season of America’s Got Talent.
That was a big year for the family with Jackie performing all over the place. With the holiday release of her O Holy Night EP, Evancho became the best-selling debut artist of 2010, the youngest top-10 debut artist in U.S. history and the youngest solo artist ever to go platinum in the U.S.
Michael and Lisa Evancho are also the parents to Jackie’s three siblings, brothers Jacob and Zachary and sister Rachel.
The Evanchos have been married for 20-years. They first welcomed son Jacob who calls himself Juliet and who was born in May 1998, followed by Jackie born in April 2000, Zachary born in April 2002 and last but not least, Rachel, born in September 2003.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania family have seen Jackie performing since age eight, when she entered her first singing competition. The parents then noticed there was something special about her voice.
Lisa Evancho first noticed her daughter Jackie’s talent when she sang a number from the “Phantom of the Opera” at the age of 8.
Jackie made a number of singing appearances around Pennsylvania in 2009 and 2010 but rose to fame on “America’s Got Talent,” singing “Pie Jesu (Merciful Jesus).” Since then she has performed for Pope Francis, Obama and others.
Michael and Lisa Evancho made headlines in 2016, after it was reported they were suing a Pennsylvania school for separating bathrooms for boys and girls.
They launched the suit on behalf of Jackie’s brother Jacob, who believes he is “transgender” and calls himself “Juliet.”
Lisa, noting that her son dresses and looks like a girl, rhetorically asked, “Can you imagine her going into the men’s room and using the restroom?”
Lisa Evancho born Lisa Brand, 49, said during an interview she and then 13-year-old son Jacob did research on trans people after originally thinking Jacob was gay. Supported by both parents, the moment, when Jacob became Juliet, came on her 17th birthday in May 2015.
Michael Evancho also known as Mike operated a video security business until 2010, it was called EYESthere- Pittsburgh. Accoridng t his LinkedIn, he is currently an Entertainment manager and the president of JE Touring llc.
According to the family website, Mike and Lisa tied the knot in October 1997.
