John Kappas wife was born, Florence Agnes Henderson on February 14, 1934. The Dale, Indiana native became a television icon when she played the role of Carol Brady, the mom of a blended family with six children, on the 1970s sitcom ‘The Brady Bunch.’
Henderson began her career in the industry by doing theater. She appeared on Broadway and also starred in the national tour of Rodgers & Hammerstein‘s Oklahoma!.
Henderson made the transition to TV, and became The Tonight Show’s first female guest host. In 1969 she landed the role that made her name a landmark, Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch,. She also hosted her own show: The Florence Henderson Show on RLTV from 2007-2009.
Accoridng to news reports, Florence Henderson died of heart failure on November 24, at the age of 82. She is survived by her four children, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
John Kappas was the late actress’ second husband. Florence was first married to Ira Bernstein with whom she became the mom of four.
Bernstein and Florence were married from 1956 until their divorce in 1985. He is a Theatrical producer and general manager. He remarried Carol Richards in 2004.

Daughter Barbara Ellen Bernstein was born November 9, 1956 in NY. According to her IMDb page, she is an actress and producer known for And Your Name Is Jonah (1979), The Brady Bunch (1969) and Gay Lives and Culture Wars (1995). She is known now as Barbara Chase.
Elizabeth Bernstein, Henderson’s second-oldest daughter, was born in 1966. She has one credit on her IMDB page: in 1992, she played ‘Young Woman’ in the film, Somebody’s Daughter.
Sons Joseph and Robert Bernstein are pictured above next to their mother. Both of her sons have managed to stay out of the spotlight.

John Kappas was the founder of the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) in 1968. He is known as the father of Hypnotherapy. According to his bio, he authored the definition of ‘Hypnotist’ and ‘Hypnotherapist’ for the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles.”
John Kappas treated at his private practice, over 30,000 individuals from all walks of life with different needs and problems.
Kappas’ institute has been around for close to five decades. The HMI College of Hypnotherapy’s website reads, “Dr. Kappas literally defined the profession of hypnotherapy in 1973, when he wrote and defined the profession of a ‘Hypnotherapist’ in the Federal Dictionary of Occupational Titles. That definition remains in force and unchanged today.”
John Kappas passed away at the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte. He was 77. The Next Avenue reported he died of lung cancer in 2002.
His son, George John Kappas, has kept his father’s legacy. George is the current Director of Behavioral Science Centers and its college/clinic, the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI).
