Carlyle Arnold Owner of Pit bull who Killed 9-year-old Girl

Carlyle Arnold, is the owner of the two-year-old pit bull named Kane who mauled a nine-year-old girl to her who was visiting a friend for a play date. The dog was killed by police and owner Carlyle Arnold was arrested.



29-year-old Carlyle Arnold, lives on the second floor of the building located on 236 Holland Ave. in Elmont where a nine-year-old girl was playing in the back yard with two friends.

It was around 10:30 Carlyle Arnold’s male pit bull dog Kane attacked the little girl, neighbors said that despite their efforts to free the little girl, Kane refused to let her go.

“He was holding her somewhere on the side — I don’t know if it was the ears or the neck — and he was throwing her around like a rag doll. ” said a next-door neighbor.
“The two [other] little girls ran down the street, screaming, ‘Help! Help! Help!’ I tried to take my broom and push the dog off through the fence. And the doctor up the block was trying to help, too. He threw a garbage can at the dog, but he wouldn’t let her go.’’

Kane tried to attack the cops who arrived at the scene who had no other choice but to fired three shots killed the dog, The poor child was rushed to Franklin Hospital where she died a few hours later, her little body was covered with dog bites. Mr. Arnold was arrested on an unrelated charge, violating an order of protection. It is believe Carlyle was not home at the time of  the attack.

Carlyle Arnold’s family and neighbors shaken by the tragedy are also surprised that Kane attacked a child even more that he killed her. They added that Kane was a fine and gentle dog, tough but that usually interacted well with everybody.

“He was a good dog — that’s what I don’t understand. ” Carlyle Arnold’s uncle Anthony Jett who lives in the house where Kane attacked the little girl said. “He was a beast because he was a pit, but he was very gentle.”
“Dogs can flip sometimes. ” he said. “They don’t respect kids like they respect adults.”

Neighbor Vito Rendace added that Kane was an “OK’’ dog.

“I mean, if somebody came too close to the house, he would react,” he said. “He would start barking. Nonetheless, that was the extent of it. I never thought he would maul anybody.”
