61-year-old Composer, conductor, orchestrator James Horner has tragically died reports say. The accomplished concert hall composer died Monday in a plane crash near Santa Barbara.
James was a big name in the industry, known for his heart-tugging scores for Field of Dreams, Braveheart and Titanic, for which he won two Academy Awards.
He moved into writing film scores. His first major film score was for the 1979 film The Lady in Red, but did not establish himself as a mainstream composer until he worked on the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Horner is survived by his wife and two children.
Sarah Horner is the former Sara Elizabeth Nelson, she and James were the parents of two daughters. 61-year-old Sara and her family currently reside in Calabasas, CA.
Sara is in the Santa Monica Mountains Fund board of directors. According to samofund.org, Ms. Horner has been a resident of Calabasas since 1983. She grew up in the Santa Monica Mountains and has a deep love for its mysteries and beauty.
Witnessing how the mountains have changed over her lifetime, she works on the board of the Fund to ensure that they will remain a quintessential California landscape. Ms. Horner is a graduate of UCLA with a degree in Studio Art and Landscape Architecture.
