Ineke ten Kate
Ineke ten Kate is the longtime wife of Dutch actor and environmentalist, Rutger Hauer -who is known for starring in the 80’s film, Blade Runner.
Ineke’s husband is said to have died in the Netherlands on Friday after a short illness. Hauer who was 75, had more than a hundred films to his credit.
Hauer was born on 23 January 1944, in Breukelen, near Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. After a stint in the Army he landed his major acting break in 1969 when he was cast in the title role of TV series Floris.
He was put on the map in 1973, after he starred opposite Monique van de Ven in “Turkish Delight,” which became a box-office smash and garnered an Oscar nod as best foreign film.
Hauer played the murderous replicant Roy Batty in Blade Runner, which was directed by Ridley Scott and also starred Harrison Ford. Hauer was particularly well known for horror and vampire roles, starring as Van Helsing in Dracula 3D, and as the vampire Barlow in Salem’s lot – a 2004 mini series of the Stephen King novel.
He has also appeared in the films Sin City -as as Cardinal Roark, in Batman Begins -as the corporate villain who Bruce Wayne discovers is running the Wayne Corp.; and the HBO series True Blood.
Hauer also recurred on ABC’s medieval musical comedy “Galavant” as Kingsley in 2015.
He is survived by his second wife Ineke ten Cate, and a daughter, Aysha Hauer.
Rutger was first married to Heidi Merz -is not clear when or why the two ended in divorce, however during their marriage they welcomed a daughter, Aysha born in 1966. Aysha Hauer is also an actress.
He and second wife had been together since 1968 but became husband and wife in 1985. She is often described as his wife of 50 years. Ineke ten Kate has been pretty shy to media over the years.
The blonde however, was always pictured next to her husband in red carpet events.
She also opened up about their relationship in the documentary, Blond, Blue Eyes -where she talks frankly about their relationship, how the two met and how they are able to sustain their marriage.
Ineke has also been active in her husband’s AIDS charity, The Rutger Hauer Starfish Association.
