Mackenzie Bezos is the novelist wife of Amazon founder and the world’s richest person, Jeff Bezos.



Bezos, 53, has leapfrog Gates, the Microsoft Corp. co-founder, on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Gates, 61, has held the top spot since May 2013.

Born January 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and the son of John Jorgensen, Jeff was raised by his mom and stepdad, a Cuban immigrant who adopted him –after his mother kicked out his dead beat dad.

Jeff, who graduated from Princeton in 1986, walked away from a lucrative New York hedge fund career in 1994 with the simple idea to sell books online. Now Amazon sells nearly everything a consumer might want.

Amazon is the fastest company ever to reach $100 billion in annual sales and Mackenzie’s hubby owns

nearly 17% of Amazon. com.

Bezos is also the owner of Blue Origin –an aerospace company and he bought The Washington Post in 2013 for $250 million.

MacKenzie was born MacKenzie S. Tuttle. She is a San Francisco native, the daughter of a father who was a financial planner and a homemaker mother.

She attended first Hotchkiss and then Princeton –where she earned her English degree. She chose Princeton partly for the chance to study fiction under the writer Toni Morrison.

MacKenzie Bezos has published two books, 2005’s The Testing of Luther Albright and 2013’s Traps.

While she always has a clear idea of being a writer, in the nineties, Mackenzie opted to get a job to pay the bills while she wrote. That’s how she met Bezos, he was the first person she interviewed with at a New York hedge fund, D. E. Shaw.

Her office was next to his and she’s widely talked about falling for his laugh. Three months after they began dating they became engaged, three months later they were married. The year was 1993 and Mackenzie was only 23. that was also the year her hubby launched Amazon.

Since then, the couple has become parents of four kids, a daughter adopted from China, and three sons.

While she admits her hubby is the social one and she is more of loner, Mackenzie has often had to rise to the occasion, having such a famous man as her spouse.

Mackenzie was literally with her husband during the birth of Amazon. She was there for the the converted garage, the basement warehouse closet, the barbecue-scented offices, the Christmas-rush distribution centers, and the door-desk filled conference rooms in the early years of Amazon’s history.

The mom of four revealed to Vogue she acknowledges that having a husband who is worth $90 billion is a stroke of luck—especially for someone who wants to write literary fiction, not the most lucrative profession in the world.

She actually took 10-years to write her first novel, published in 2005. Aside from being an accomplished novelist, Mackenzie Bezos is also the creator of Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying website that offers advise to help stop bullying.

Mackenzie Bezos is also well known for ripping in a famous one-star review, journalist Brad Stone’s book about Amazon.

Recent reports indicate Jeff Bezos and longtime wife MacKenzie Bezos are heading for divorce. The couple that has been hitched for the last 25-years, announced their separation labeling it as ‘amicable’

Amicable is a good word, however we are talking about possibly the most expensive divorce settlement in history. McKenzie’s hubby, the founder of Amazon, is estimated to be worth some $160bn.

The two married in 1993, a year before Jeff founded Amazon. MacKenzie has always been described as a supporter of Jeff’s move from Wall Street and into e-commerce.

The couple’s shared statement on social media says that, following a trial separation they had decided to continue their lives as friends. They suggested they will continue to partners in vestures and projects but also individuals pursuing adventures.
