A heartbreaking story, the ones we don’t like to tell about; a beautiful woman, mother of one and bride to be, 26-year-old Collette Marie Moreno has been identified as the woman who lost her life over the weekend during a car accident.
Reports of a crash June 20th in the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Moreno was riding in a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu when the 26-year-old female driver identified as Collette’s best friend and maid of honor Ashley Theobald, attempted to pass another vehicle. A 1999 Dodge Ram driven by a 25-year-old Versailles man crested a hill at this time. The drivers of the Malibu and Ram swerved to miss each other, but the Ram hit the passenger side of the Malibu, sending the Malibu off to the left side of the road and the Ram off the right side of the road.
She was taken o a Columbia hospital where she was pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m. According to a legacy page, Collette was born June 9, 1988, in San Diego, Calif. and grew up in Lee’s Summit, Mo.,
Just when you think things can not get more tragic, Collette who was residing in Kansas City Mo., was engaged to 28-year-old Jesse Acrobasso and reports say she was on her way to a bachelorette party on her behalf when the accident occurred.
According to KCTV, Moreno was set to wed her fiance next month in Jamaica. An exited bride to be, Collette had shared photos of her and best friend just minutes before they embarked on the weekend celebrations.
Moreno and her friend were on their way to Lake of the Ozarks, where her bachelorette party was set to take place.
Her friend (pictured above) attempted to pass another vehicle and recalls Collette was coughing from the exhaust fumes coming from the truck they were following, that’s when they found the other vehicle coming head-on. Collette’s best friend who says her friend was wearing the seatbelt was treated for minor injuries.
According to her LinkedIn page, she was a Precertification Representative at Summit Gastroenterology for the past four-years. From 2006 – 2010 she worked as a team to receive, distribute, analyze global shipments to appropriate dental technicians at Dan Root Dental Laboratory.
A YouCaring page has been set up to raise money for Moreno’s funeral and travel expenses so her family can attend. The daughter of Kelly Arie and Mark, Collete was also a mom to a five year-old boy, son Brayden.
She is survived by fiance, Jesse Arcobasso, son, Brayden Robert French; parents, Kelly Arie, Mark and Nancy Swaney, brothers and sisters.
Our condolences to all of her family members and fiance.
