#1. Ellen DeGeneres Opening Joke
She said, “I’m not saying movies are the most important thing in the world, because we all know the most important thing in the world is youth. But really, we know that the most important thing in life is love and friendship and family. And if people don’t have those things, they usually get into show business. We are all one big, frightened family.”
#2. Best Presenter Intro
DeGeneres introducing Jim Carrey by observing, “‘Citizen Kane.’ ‘Lawrence of Arabia.’ ‘Ace Ventura.’ Our next presenter was in one of these.” Bonus points to Carrey for continuing the point, making repeated it-must-be-nice references to the fact that he’s never been nominated for an Oscar.
#3. Best Music Moment
Pharrell performing his infectious hit, “Happy.” Don’t you just loved when he jumped down to the front row and boogied with Lupita, Meryl Streep, and Amy Adams.
#4. The A-Listers Selfie
What was supposed to be a snap between Ellen and August Osage County nominee, Meryl Streep became a record-breaking selfie including heavy hitters like Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, and Bradley Cooper. The image single-handedly crippled Twitter for a brief span.
#5. Someone Ordered Pizza?
We know Ellen is a woman of her word. But did you ever pictured her going around the entire front row offering pizza to everyone from Brad Pitt to Harrison Ford?
#6. 12 Years a Slave –Lupita’s Emotional Speech
She had a genuine surprise and emotion in her reaction when she heard her name from that envelope. Her perfect speech could have made anyone tear-up.
#7. Steve McQueen’s Reaction over Oscar win
Just in case your cable jumped from the Oscars to your local news, there’s a chance you didn’t see Steve McQueen jumping for joy over 12 Years a Slave’s Oscar win.
#8. Bette Midler sings “Wind Beneath My Wings”
Critics say it was a perfect pop culture moment. The legendary singer and actress sang the iconic song after the In Memoriam segment.

Don’t you just love when actors mess-up? 60-year-old actor John Travolta butchering Idina Menzel’s name made Twitter explode with comments!

The frontrunner to win Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club since the Golden Globes, gave much more than his typical “Alright, Alright, Alright.” This time the actor’s speech stressed three things: God, family, the future.
