Shakira is always seen in red carpet events by her famous husband’s side. She’s 14-years his junior and the couple are a true delight to watch.
She was born Shakira Baksh on 23 February 1947 in Guyana (known before as the British Guiana). Growing up she was always interested in fashion, which was also sparked after her mother who was a dressmaker.
At age 19 –then working as a secretary –won the Miss Guyana contest. She went on to become 1967 Miss World ’s third place, which gave her the perfect platform to do some acting and advertising gigs.
Caine spotted Shakira in a TV advert for Maxwell House coffee in 197. The actor thought she was the most beautiful woman on earth and made his mission to meet her. After some research he found out she was living just a few miles away, called, asked her out and were married in Vegas in 1973.
In the 70’s she appeared in a number of films, she and her husband also worked together in ‘John Huston’s The Man Who Would Be King.’
The couple have one daughter, Natasha. Michael has a daughter Dominique from his first marriage to actress Patricia Haines.
