Maggie Green is the mother of Facebook suspect killer, Steve Green –the man who spurred a nationwide manhunt after he took the life of a man over Easter Sunday in the name of his estranged girlfriend, Joy Lane.
The search for her 37-year-old son has finally come to an end after police caught up with him in Erie, PA. According to recent updates, Stephens killed himself during a high speed chase with cops in Pennsylvania.
Authorities say Stephens’ body was found inside his white Ford Fusion around 11:10 AM ET on Tuesday. The police were in pursuit of Stephens at the time after they responded to a tip that Stephens’ car had been spotted in a nearby McDonald’s parking lot, TMZ reports.
Cops say Stephens’ car came to a stop in the middle of the road near a former elementary school, and then he took his own life.
Stephens who died on scene, had been on the run since Sunday, after he shot and killed Robert Godwin Sr. and then uploaded video of the murder to Facebook.
Stephens ‘mother claimed to reporter he was “shooting people” because he had become angry at his girlfriend, Joy Lane, after she had spoken to her son over the weekend.
She also told CNN she was upset and in disbelief at his son’s actions.
At the time, Steve confirmed in a series of videos uploaded to Facebook, he had paid a visit to his mother the day before the shooting. Aside of blaming the whole situation on his former girlfriend, Joy Lane, he also went onto rant bitterly about his mother saying he went to see her to let her know that he was feeling suicidal and homicidal, but it didn’t seem like she cared and he also casted blame on her for his actions.
According to her social media info, Maggie Green is a nurse currently living in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended Collingwood High Scholl and studied Nursing at Cuyahoga Community College.
Maggie Green lost her brother, reverend Whitty G. Stephens Jr. after he died from a heart attack in 2014. She also has one sister, Sandra Carson.
Maggie’s son worked at Beech Brook, a behavioral health agency in northeast Ohio that serves children, teenagers and families. He had been dating girlfriend Joy Lane for about three years before he snapped.
