The show’s 35th annual installment had a little bit of everything; from Madonna to JLo to Nicki Minaj and many others that kept the party feeling going.

#1 Jennifer Lopez & Ja Rule on stage

Her performance was impeccable but seeing her sing along, Ja Rule for “Ain’t It Funny,” and ‘I’m Real’ was truly the throwback you had been waiting for. She was also the recipient of this year’s Video Vanguard Award.

#2 The Backstreet Boys nailed it

During the preshow, the Backstreet Boys started off the night by singing their recent single “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” on top of New York City’s Radio City Music Hall sign –and during the ceremony they presented the award for Song of the Year, singing snippets from each nominee in one of the sweeter segments of the emission.

The 6-foot-2, Canadian has slowly been making it clear he is one sexy crooner, at no point during the VMAs was that more evident than during his performance of “In My Blood,” complete with a wet T-shirt.

It was refreshing to say the least to watch the costars of the upcoming comedy Night School showed off their teamwork as they roasted Jersey Shore and Fifth Harmony.

#5 Nicki Minaj performance

Nicki reminded us all why she deserved to be seating on a throne as she appeared on a gold armor and performed “Barbie Dreams” and “Fefe.” The Queen hitmaker also won best Hip Hop for “Chun-Li.”

#6 Ariana Grande shout out to her fiancé

Ariana took home Best Pop for “No Tears Left to Cry” and ended her acceptance speech with a shout-out to her fiancé: “Pete Davidson, thanks for existing.”

#7 Logic protesting the Trump Administration

During his and Ryan Tedder’s “One Day” performance –Logic wore a black tee that read “F— THE WALL” — was joined by hundreds of immigrant children and families sporting white shirts that read “we are all human beings” in capital letters.
