Wanda McFarlane
Wanda McFarlane is the long time wife of cartoonist, artist, writer, designer, and entrepreneur –Todd McFarlane, best known as the man behind the fantasy comic series, Spawn.
Wanda’s husband popular works include Venom the villain (Spiderman) and Spawn whose character is basically based on his shadow whose essence is not there without the shadows. It was Todd who drew the first full appearance of the super villain Venom on Marvel Comic’s Spiderman.
Released in 1990, Spider-man #1 sold over 2.5 million copies, making it the best-selling comic book of all time. Spawn, which appeared in May 1992 made 1.7 million in sales. His most popular comic-book creation, “Spawn,” celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2017.
Wanda’s hubby is also the owner of McFarlane Toys, launched in 1994. McFarlane Toys is considered to be one of the best enterprises for manufacturing the toys.
But before he became a successful name in the comic industry, Todd attended Eastern Washington University, and played collegiate baseball. He graduated from Calgary’s Sir Winston Churchill High School –where he met future wife, Wanda.
The two were high school sweethearts and began dating while Wanda was in the seventh grade and Todd was in twelfth. Their relationship evolved until they lived together in Washington while she attended college at Eastern Washington University. She obtained a biology degree. She also obtained a Teaching Certificate in 1988 –from University of Victoria. In 2011 she obtained her Master of Arts (M.A.), Human Rights and Social Justice.
They eventually tied the knot in 1985 and since have welcomed three children; daughters, Cyan and Kate and son, Jake. Wanda who goes by Wanda Kolomyjec currently resides in Arizona.
According to her LinkedIn, she is a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University. Previous jobs includes working as a high school teacher at John Barsby High School in British Columbia. She also served as the COO of McFarlane Toys from 1994 until 2008.
Most recently she became the founder/creator of Social Circles of Knowledge as well as T-Resisters.
