Mark Anthony Conditt has been identified as the bomber who terrorized Austin for several days and reports say he is now deceased.
Conditt, the bombing suspect took his own life and left two people dead during a spawn of 20 days of explosive attacks. There’s no clear motive on why he would commit such attacks. Learn more about him below.
#1 His deadly packages terrified Austin for almost three weeks
Four exploding packages in Austin since March 2 killed two people and injured at least four more. Another blast at a FedEx distribution center near San Antonio on Monday slightly injured one person.
#2 His victims have been identified
Anthony Stephan House, the first victim, was reportedly a family man and loving father to an eight-year-old daughter before his life was tragically cut short by a package bomb. Police identified Draylen Mason as the 17-year-old musician that was killed in a second attack. The Violin Channel reports that Draylen Mason was an honor roll bass student at the East Austin College Prep.
#3 Mark Anthony Conditt was homeschooled
24-year-old Mark Anthony Condit, of Pflurgerville, Texas –was homeschooled by his mom, Danene Conditt, who identifies herself on Facebook as his mother. He also receiving a degree from Austin Community College’s Northridge Campus, the Austin American-Statesman reported.
#4 He held a couple of different jobs
Mark Anthony Conditt worked at Crux Semiconductor in Austin and previously as a computer repair technician.
#5 The biggest mistake he made was going to FedEx
Authorities were aided in the identity of the suspect by reviewing surveillance video at the FedEx drop-off location north of San Antonio where the suspect was allegedly seen entering with a package. Investigators were able to pull multiple images from the surveillance video and were able to track him to a hotel parking lot near Austin by monitoring his cell phone activity.
#6 He killed himself
According to news outlets, the bombing suspect killed himself inside his car with an explosive device early Wednesday. His vehicle ran into a ditch moments before the explosion that apparently took his life.
#7 He kept an old blog
A few years ago, Conditt made at least six entries, all in 2012, in which he wrote that he thinks gay marriage should be illegal and that sex offender registries should be eliminated.
