41-year-old French lawyer Jeannette Bougrab was the current girlfriend of Stephane “Charb” Charbonnier, one of the 12 people murdered by Said and Cherif Kouachi during the attack at Charlie Hebdo’s offices.
Jeannette’s partner served as the editor of Charlie Hebdo, she has revealed during recent interviews Charb never had children because he knew he was going to die. He lived without fear, but he knew he would die, she said.
But Jeannette is no stranger to French media. Bougrab was born 26 August 1973 in Déols, she is a member of the UMP. She is President of the High Authority against Discrimination and for Equality (HALDE) since April 16, 2010. She was appointed to the State Secretariat for Youth and community life November 14, 2010.
The politician had only kind words to say about her late partner, “He died, executed with his comrades, as he would say.” During a TV interview she blamed the massacre on inadequate security at the Charlie Hebdo offices.
