Joan Severance
Joan Severance was until recently the longtime partner of TV personality and entertainer, Robin Leach.
Joan’s beau is said to have passed away on August 24th –following complications from a stroke he suffered earlier this week. Leach had been living in a hospice after he suffered a stroke last November. He then suffered another on Monday, TMZ reported.
Leach — a veteran journalist — launched and hosted ‘Lifestyles’ in 1984 and it aired until 1995. The show gave viewers a sneak peek into the lives of wealthy entertainers, athletes and CEOs. This earned him a ritzy reputation.
After the show ended, Leach remained a figurehead in the world of wealth and luxury.
He spent most of his final years as a journalist working for the Las Vegas Review-Journal and for the Las Vegas Sun covering celeb events on the strip. He had been living in Las Vegas since moving in 1999. In the 2000’s he also served as host of “The Surreal Life: Fame Games” on VH1.
Prior to his career on TV, Robin began working in newspapers. He became the youngest editor at 18. He was named editor at London’s Daily Mail and later worked for the New York Daily News and People magazine.
In 1980 he broke into TV on CNN’s “People Tonight.” Leach is survived by three sons and his longtime companion, Joan Severance.
Severance is a former actress and fashion model born December 23, 1958. The Texas native began modeling at age 15 and was photographed for Sportswear International, Vogue Paris, and others. She was also in the covers of Playboy twice.
Joan transitioned to acting in the late 80’s and made her debut in Lethal Weapon. She also appeared in several productions through the 80’s and 90’s such as Lake Consequence, Criminal Passion, Payback, See No Evil, Hear No Evil and No Holds Barred.
In her later years she took small roles in important TV shows like CSI Miami, One Three Hill and American Horror Story. Joan Severance was married to Eric Milan from 1977 to 1984. Joan and Robin began dating in 2002. Joan is 17 years Robin’s junior.
