Shawn Custis- Man arraigned in home invasion, beating of mom caught on nanny cam

Home Invasion Beating

The man in the picture above is African American Shawn Custis, a 42-year-old allegedly responsible for the beating of a woman in Millburn, New Jersey last week! On June 21st, Custis walked in uninvited to the house of a woman around 10 a.m, he proceeded to grab her as if she was a punching bag; kicking the woman and throwing her down stairs while her 3-year-old daughter huddled on a couch, one more kid was allegedly to be somewhere in the house while the attack took place.

Some of his aliases were; Custic, Shawn, Custie, Shawn or Hustis, Shawn, He weight 235 lb and is  5′ 8″

Luckily those excruciating moments were all captured on a nanny camera; the footage unleashed the search for the heartless man responsible of the terrible beating that left the woman with a concussion, a leg injury, bruises and chipped teeth. It was Custis’ girlfriend and other acquaintances who recognized him from the video that mustered the courage to turn him in! And now Custis is behind bars. What makes a person let loose his rage on another human being like that?? There is clearly something wrong with his head.

The Essex County prosecutor’s office said 42-year-old Shawn Custis was arrested Friday in Manhattan by the prosecutor’s office and the FBI. He faces charges of attempted murder, robbery, burglary and child endangerment; during his fist appearance in court this morning Custis wore a blue button-down shirt and muttered “yes” when the judge asked if he understood the charges against him.

But that is not all, it would appear he has a long criminal record dating back to the 1990s including 12 felony convictions according to the Star Ledger He served 10 months in jail for series of burglaries and was released in December, according to court records.

The family issued a statement on Saturday thanking law enforcement for their efforts in making the arrest.

“We are forever grateful to the incredible team of law enforcement officers for their hard work over the past week. Thanks to these heroes, our family can now begin the next chapter of our healing,” “We also want to thank everyone in the Millburn community, the Millburn Workmoms, and those from across the country for the outpouring of support.”
