Have you seen the lovely Reporter/Anchor for WDIV-TV Local 4 News Lauren Podell?
Born October 31, 1985 in West Bloomfield, but she spent her early child hood in Cleveland, Ohio. Lauren returned to Michigan and calls Shelby Township her current home.
She graduated from Oakland University with Departmental Honors and earned her Bachelors degree as a Communications and Journalism major. During her education career at Oakland, she was an anchor at OU TV and hosted her own local radio show on 88.3 WXOU.
Lauren is no stranger to the world of television; started as an intern in Southfield with the Fox 2 News department and even interned right here at Local 4 before she took the reins as Traffic Reporter.
Podell joined the Local 4 News Team in December of 2007. Podell started her career at WDIV as a part of the Local 4 News Morning Team. Lauren has expanded her role here at WDIV as the traffic and general assignment reporter during the 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm newscasts.
It was during one of those live newscast that Lauren, who is a “happy wife, professional shopper” according to her twitter, inadvertently dropped an F-bomb on Wednesday’s news report of a fire that struck the downtown district of nearby Lapeer, Mich.
The certainly unexpected moment led to one of the anchors to quickly apologize as Podell’s audio is cut. She can not be seen on camera but the sound unfortunately for Lauren is crystal clear.
The 28-year-old is the daughter of legendary Detroit DJ, Doug Podell. Her dad has been in the radio industry for over 30 years and has taken Lauren to countless concerts. She’s met the Rolling Stones, Aerosmith even Metallica five different times.
The bubbly blonde who was voted Best Hair in Detroit in 2011 was married in September of 2012 to her husband Joel.
Lauren who writes daily blogs on clickondetroit.com on all that you need to know about road construction, events, accidents…etc. Has been quiet since the incident in which we can hear her go
“I don’t have IFB; I don’t know when we’re going,” Podell says. “I can’t get this f***ing in there.”
Although she might have been mortified by the happening, most of her fans enjoyed an early morning laugh, and posted their support on her Facebook page.
We’ve all said stuff by accident right!
