Oh no! Could someone get a dictionary to news anchor Kristi Capel? The Fox 8 morning news presenter used the word “jigaboo” on air this morning while discussing Sunday night’s 87th Academy Awards ceremony.
Capel used the racially offensive term to describe the musical arrangement in last nights Oscar performance by Lady Gaga.
The Cleveland, OH; newswoman tried to put the Twitter firestorm down by saying she was sorry and she didn’t even know the meaning of the word. Her boss, Channel 8’s news director said it would be handled internally but she will be on air tomorrow.
Kristi who co-anchors “Fox 8 News in the Morning” with Wayne Dawson and Stefani Schaefer, grew up in Northern Kentucky, graduating from Heritage Academy.
In 2001, she moved to Missouri and earned a degree in Broadcasting & Communications along with Public Relations from Evangel University.
Following her college graduation she became Miss Missouri USA 2006.
Her reporting career includes covering fires, accidents, local events and even reporting the weather. The 31-year-old is happily married to hubby Hal and is the mom of a daughter named, Kyndal.
