32-year-old Kate Matrosova was found dead after she went missing Sunday on Mt. Adams. A brilliant banker, Kate was found between Mt. Madison and Mt. Adams in an area near Star Lake, police reports say.
Kate was originally from Omsk, Russia and moved to the US to study in 2002. She is believed to be married to J.P Morgan VP, the couple lived in New York.
She was a BNP Paribas banker, according to her LinkedIn, she previously worked for Beach Capital Management, J.P. Morgan, Morningstar.
She attended University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business where she earned a Master of Financial Engineering. In 2012 she attended the Harvard University Extension School and from 2002-2006 she went to DePaul University where she earned a Bachelor of Science, Finance Honors, Marketing Honors Programs, Minor in Accounting, Graduated Magna Cum Laude.
Kate who says on Facebook she enjoys Paintball, white-water rafting, boating, rock climbing and mountaineering, was hiking alone after her husband dropped her off at 5 a.m. Sunday at the base of the mountains. She activated her personal locator beacon about 3:30 p.m. Sunday but unfortunately search crews couldn’t reach the area overnight because of extreme winds.
