Meet 51-year-old Joyce Mitchell, the Clinton Correctional worker who allegedly helped two New York murderers to scape!
According to reports, Mitchell is in serious trouble, she was interviewed by investigators trying to determine how prisoners: David Sweat and Richard Matt were able to get their hands on the power tools they used to make a Shawshank Redemption-style escape.
Her name was first released by ABC news, after police released photos of the highly dangerous fugitives.
Joyce has worked at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora since 2010, prior to that she used to be a tax collector, according to the Daily Mail.
She’s originally from Dickinson Center, New York. According to her social media information, she’s listed as an Industrial training supervisor at Clinton Correctional Facility. She’s a graduate from the Class of 1984 of St.Regis Falls and also attended North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, New York.
She is married to husband Lyle and is the mom of the couple’s only son, Tobey Mitchell. She is also a grandmother to her son’s baby daughter, born earlier this year.
Her duties at Clinton correctional include being responsible for inmate work assignments, several reports indicate she was close to both escapees; 48-year-old Matt, –who is a two-time killer –and 34-year-old Sweat –who shot and killed a sheriff’s deputy.
So how does a sweet-looking-grandma gets in this mess? The official version is that Joyce could have been persuaded to help them after the fell for Matt –who has a history of “having his way with women.”
Many workers have been questioned but apparently all fingers are pointing on Joyce.
