Robert Wagner, the veteran actor well known for his stage, screen, and television career is well respected among his Hollywood peers, however that may soon change.



Wagner has enjoyed of a celebrated and long career, he rose to fame for his roles on TV shows, It Takes a Thief, Switch, and Hart to Hart. The Michigan native born February 10, 1930; the son of a steel executive, moved to Los Angeles at a young age and he decided to pursue an acting career.

Wagner, also known by his nickname R.J, appeared in several films, including, Halls of Montezuma (1951) and With a Song in My Heart (1952). He appeared with screen legend Barbara Stanwyck in Titanic (1953). Wagner portrayed the title role in Prince Valiant (1954) and worked with Spencer Tracy in Broken Lance (1954) and The Mountain (1956).

In the 1960s, Wagner continued to act in films such as The Pink Panther and Harper. But it took a lead role in television’s It Takes a Thief (1968-70).

From 1975-78, Wagner starred in the CBS detective agency series Switch, with Eddie Albert, Charlie Callas and Sharon Glass. Then in 1979, Wagner joined Stefanie Powers to star as a debonair crime-solving couple in ABC’s Hart to Hart. The popular show, which aired until 1984, offered Wagner even greater career success.

The well-known Hollywood figure has also enjoyed success also at a personal level. He’s been married four times in his lifetime, twice to the same woman.

Wood was born Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko on July 20, 1938. The California native was a famous 19-year-old actress when she wedded Wagner in December 28, 1957.

As a child she had starred in 1947’s Miracle on 34th Street; she had also appeared in 1955’s Rebel Without a Cause. She and Wagner shared the screen in All the Fine Young Cannibals (1960). The couple divorced in 1962.

Wagner soon found love again, marrying Marion Marshall in July 1963. The couple welcomed one child together. Wagner’s second marriage ended in 1971 after eight years.

Marion Marshall was also an actress and when she married Wagner, she was a divorced woman with two children of her own.

Natalie Wood

Following his divorce from Marshall, he and Wood reunited and remarried in 1972. The second time around, the couple became parents, welcoming one child.

Natalie who had found love herself, was by then the mother of a daughter, Natasha –born from her marriage to British producer Richard Gregson. She and Gregson were married from 1969 until 1971.

She and Wagner remained married until her death seven years later on November 29, 1981 at age 43.

Actress Jill St. John and Wagner began dating in the early 80’s. They were married after an eight-year-courtship on May 26, 1990. The two have been together since.

They met for the first time when she was a teenage starlet and he was and up and coming actor in the late 1950’s before marrying years later in 1990.

St. John born August 19, 1940 is a former Bond girl. She appeared in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever.

Children

Wagner is the proud father of two adult children.

His second child, another daughter, Courtney, was born in 1974 –from his third marriage but second to Natalie Wood.

Robert Wagner also became the legal guardian to Wood’s daughter Natasha Gregson –who was 11-years-old when Natalie Wood died.
