Sharon Brock is the devastated wife of famous musician, Ed King who reportedly died aged 68.



Sharon’s husband is best known as the guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, reports say he died Wednesday at his home in Nashville. According to Rolling Stone King had been battling lung cancer and had recently been hospitalized for the disease.

His death on August 22, was confirmed on a message on the guitarist’s Facebook page: “We thank his many friends and fans for their love and support of Ed during his life and career.”

Edward C. King was born on Sept. 14, 1949; the California native played guitar and bass for the Southern rock band from 1972 to 1975 and again from 1987 to 1996. He co-wrote one of Skynyrd’s most legendary hits with Ronnie Van Zant and Gary Rossington.

King spare his life after a Van Zant and 2 other members were killed in a plane crash in 1977. He rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987 but left for good in 1996 due to health issues. At the time he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He had a heart transplant in 2011.

King played on the band’s first three albums: 1973’s (Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd), 1974’s Second Helping and 1975’s Nuthin’ Fancy. He most famously co-wrote Second Helping‘s “Sweet Home Alabama”

Ed and the band, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. King is also associated to the psychedelic band, Strawberry Alarm Clock, formed in L.A. in the mid-1960s.

King is survived by his wife, Sharon Brock King. According to her social media, Sharon and her husband shared a home in Nashville, Tennessee and had two dogs, Petey & Ollie. They had been married since 2010.
