We are saddened by the news of the passing of Cynthia Lennon at age 76. She was John Lennon’s first wife. She passed away at her home in Mallorca, Spain following a short but brave battle with cancer.

She was born Cynthia Powell in 1939. She met Lennon at the Liverpool College of Art and tied the knot in 1962 after she found out she was pregnant.

Cynthia and Jon were photographed at social events, she was once the envy of Lennon’s fans. They lived at Kenwood in Weybridge.

She gave birth to their only son, musician John Charles Julian Lennon better known as Julian Lennon in 1963.

Cynthia lived thought the Beatlemania but blamed the end of her marriage to Lennon’s drug abuse. Many articles talk about how she would often be scared by his violent personality. They divorced in 1968 when he left her for Yoko Ono.

Cynthia re-married three more times. From 1970-1973 she was married to Italian hotelier Roberto Bassanini.
