Rachel Demy is the second and current wife of musician, Ben Gibbard -the lead vocalist of indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie.



Rachel’s husband’s most recent collaboration has been released an you might be surprised. The 42-year-old is featured in Chance the Rapper’s new album.

The Bremerton, WA native born Benjamin D. Gibbard on August 11, 1976; got interested in music due in part to the explosion of grunge and its roots in his region during his formative high-school years.

Gibbard began Death Cab for Cutie as a solo project in 1997; he had previously released an album with his first band Pinwheel. Death Cab for Cutie would go on to enormous popularity and release records for years to come, but Gibbard’s itch to work solo continued. Between 1999 and 2002, he worked on several solo releases under the name ¡All-Time Quarterback! Collaboration became standard for Gibbard early on as well. He also started the side project The Postal Service, releasing the critically acclaimed 2003 album Give Up.
In 2017 he delivered Bandwagonesque, a reworking of Teenage Fanclub’s breakthrough 1991 album of the same name.

Ben who studied engineering at Western Washington University and has written articles on gay rights for The Daily Beast -has been happily married to wife, Rachel Demy -who is a music & portrait photographer, since 2016. He was previously married to Zooey Deschanel from 2009 until their split in 2012.

Rachel Demy born in 1982; who grew up just outside Portland, Oregon -is a professional photographer who has also served as her husband’s tour manager.

She began her career interning for a local promoter at 18, then got a job doing box office while in college. After she graduated, she was connected with a booking agent who had just moved from New York.
She worked for more than a year assisting him in booking tours, while booking bands of her own.
Rachel Demy left her job as a booking agent’s assistant in 2006 to start managing bands. In addition to Death Cab For Cutie she spends most of her time on the road managing a few others. As the tour photographer she spends her time documenting the bands and traveling in between.

She has spent over a decade on the road, shooting and coordinating tours for bands like The National, Death Cab for Cutie and St. Vincent. Other bands she’s worked with include Neko Case, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Ra Ra Riot, Richard Swift & The Notwist.
