Annabeth Hartzog Goodman is the proud and longtime wife of TV and movie actor, John Goodman.



Annabeth’s husband has made a name for himself with stellar performances on a number of films and TV shows on a career that has lasted for decades. Born June 20, 1952 as John Stephen Goodman; the New Orleans, Louisiana native played basketball and football in high school, earning a college scholarship for football.

He began his career doing theater but is perhaps best known for playing Dan Conner of TV’s Roseanne from 1988 to 1997. The role earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in 1993. Other notable roles include Monsters, Inc., The Big Lebowski, and O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Goodman has hosted Saturday Night Live several times and was also in the Broadway production Loose Ends with Bruce Willis.

Just like his career, his marriage to Annabeth Hartzog Goodman has also been a long one. The two have been married since 1989, meaning they have been together for nearly 30-years.

She was born Anna Elizabeth Hartzog and is a New Orleans native who first met John at a party in 1987. At the time she was a fine-arts student at the University of New Orleans and he was filming in New Orleans for the 1988 film Everybody’s All-American.

He proposed in the spring of 1989 on the Mississippi River and she said yes despite their 16-year-age difference; the couple were married that November. Wedding guests included Roseanne, Tom Arnold, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore.

She gave birth to the couple’s only daughter, Molly in 1990. Daughter, Molly Evangeline Goodman, also works in the film industry as a production assistant.

Annabeth keeps mostly to herself but is often seen accompanying John on red carpet events.

John has credited Annabeth Hartzog Goodman for helping him get treatment for his addiction to alcohol. During an interview he revealed back in 2007 she made some calls and got him into a treatment center. He’s been sober since.
