Aimee Mullins: Homeland Actor Rupert Friend’s Girlfriend

Paralympic athlete Aimee Mullins and her actor boyfriend, 33-year-old English man Rupert Friend are engaged! The couple has been dating since last year and rumors of their engagement have been around since October.

38-year-old Aimee Mullins was born with fibular hemimelia, a condition that ended  up taking both her legs when she was one-year-old.

Mullins who was never stopped by her condition, has done acting, modeling and competed in the Paralympics in 1996 in Atlanta.

The Pennsylvania native is also a well known figure on the topic of prosthetic innovation. Watch her below on one of her TED talks about having 12-pair of legs and how it gives her beauty.

She has become an influential voice in today’s culture, she is regularly invited to share her ideas at various corporations and global conferences.

Her website states her likeness has been immortalized in exhibits at institutions such as the Smithsonian, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the NCAA Hall of Fame, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Tate Modern, the Track and Field Hall of Fame, and the Women’s Museum, where she is honored for her contribution to sport among the “Greatest American Women of the 20th Century.”
