Ralkina Jones
37-year-old Ralkina Jones was found unresponsive inside her jail cell on July 26. In a video recently released she is seen telling Cleveland Heights jail officers she doesn’t want to die in their cell; about 15 hours later exactly what she didn’t want to happen, happened.
Jones was locked up after she was charged with assault, domestic violence and child endangerment. It all sparked from a fight with her husband a couple of days earlier.
Her death is being investigated and her family wants answers. The exact cause of her death is not yet clear but in the video she tells officers she needs her meds: such as a generic version of the anxiety medication Xanax, the anti-epileptic drug Gabapentin and the ADHD drug Adderall. She suffers from migraines and concussions to her brain, she said. And her postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is “my main concern,” she told the cops, the NY Daily News reports.
Before her ultimate death, Jones explains officers about her health concerns saying: What happens is, when I go from a sitting to a standing position, I faint.” Officers did sent her to be examined at a hospital, they kept her at a near by cell and one promised she wouldn’t be yelled by jail officers again for trying to take her medication.
She came back from her hospital evaluation and officers kept checking for her regularly thought the night but she was found unconscious the next morning.
After watching the jail footage, one of her sisters told WKYC-TV ‘“Someone’s going to answer to it. If not, everyone’s going to answer to it, because you can’t just do this.”
According to her sister, Ralkina was a mother, a sister, a daughter, a cousin and it was her first time going to jail.
Ralkina used to be married to Brandon Jones. She and her ex-husband got into a fight on Friday, she allegedly was breaking his car windows when he intervened and police was called. Things got ugly and Ralkina later tried to run over him while her daughter was inside the car.
She died on Sunday.
