Connie Jones was once the wife of murder suspect, Dwight Lamon Jones –who has been named as a suspect linked to a number of Scottsdale, Phoenix killings.

Connie’s former spouse was found dead today at a hotel room and police believes he took his own life. Dwight Lamon Jones was thought to have been the author of a three-day Valley shooting spree that claimed the lives of four people. The 56-year-old appears to be also responsible for a double-murder scene in Fountain Hills.

His victims include nationally known forensic psychiatrist Dr. Steven Pitt, two paralegals and a therapist.

As police evacuated adjacent rooms, numerous shots were fired inside his room. No guests or officers were injured and no police officer fired a gun. Lamon Jones’ body was found in an Extended Stay hotel, near 69th Street and Shea Boulevard, reports say.

Authorities believe Dwight Lamon Jones targeted his victims. Dr. Pitt for instance, is linked to Jones after doing a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation of him during his bitter divorce from wife, Connie Jones. Reports point out all of the other victims also appear to be linked to his divorce in some way.

Connie Jones and Dwight Lamon Jones welcomed at least one child together during the time they were husband and wife.

Their divorced was finalized in 2011 after Connie Jones had filed for divorce in 2009. Court records show the case dragged on for eight years, into 2017 due to disputes over alimony and child custody.

During divorce proceedings, Connie sought an order of protection, and psychological and psychiatric evaluations were requested for her husband. Prior to their divorce Connie accused him of domestic abuse. Her husband at the time, pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge after being charged in Scottsdale Municipal Court with misdemeanor assault, threats and intimidation, and disorderly conduct.

Following the shooting, police described the shooter as “an adult male, bald and wearing a dark-colored hat with a short brim.”
