Regina Lake
Regina Lake is the wife of English rock legend, Greg Lake –know as a member of the progressive rock bands King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer.
Regina Lake’s husband was born Gregory Stuart Lake on November 10, 1947. He passed after a long battle with cancer, on December 7, 2016; aged 69.
The English born, had his greatest success and influence in the progressive rock outfit Emerson, Lake & Palmer and, before that, as a founding member of the original King Crimson.
Lake went on to become one of the most prominent and popular musicians in the world. He is the son of an engineer father and housewife mother.
He grew up in a poor stricken part of the seaside resort town of Bournemouth. According to MTV, he got his first guitar for his 12th birthday, as a gift from his mother.
His website states, he first won worldwide acclaim as lead vocalist, bass guitarist and producer when together with Robert Fripp he formed King Crimson.
Fripp and Lake met when they shared the same Dorset guitar teacher who taught an expansive range of music including classical pieces by Paganini and post war classics.
Their first album, In Court of the Crimson King, co-produced by Greg, featured the iconic song “21st Century Schizoid Man.” King Crimson pioneered progressive rock and paved the way for famous bands that followed, including Yes and Genesis all the way through to bands such as The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and countless others.
He has also been reasonably popular as a solo artist working in more of a hard rock idiom.
In 1986, he re-teamed with Emerson and drummer Cozy Powell as Emerson, Lake & Powell, and recorded an album for Mercury Records, which was followed by a world tour. After a stint with ex-Asia member Geoff Downes and King Crimson drummer Michael Giles in a group called Ride the Tiger, Lake re-teamed with Emerson and Palmer for a film that was never finished, which led to their first new album in 13 years, Black Moon (1992).
During the mid- and late ’90s, Lake continued to work with Emerson and Palmer, while pursuing his solo work as well. The latter included a 1994 tour of the United States.
He had also done a considerable amount of charitable work on behalf of missing children, and his song “Daddy,” achieved national exposure as a theme for a television series devoted to the plight of missing children.
Lake is survived by his wife, Regina and their daughter. Regina Lake is his wife of nearly 40 years.
Regina Lake and her husband became parents to only one childe, daughter Natasha Lake. She is currently married and Regina Lake is the grandmother to her daughter’s son, Gabriel.
Regina Lake was born Regina Boettcher. She was a German model in the 70’s when she met Lake. The couple wedded on January 5th.
At the time, Regina was 21-years-old. Their wedding was celebrated at the St James Cathedral in London.
The couple resided in a home in Richmond and held one of the longest marriages in rock music.
We send our condolences.
